This article examines the conflict between the desire of the Chinese people to express themselves on social media platforms and the central government's desire to monitor and assess the actions of individuals and to even make use of this information to assess an individual's suitability for a job. China is a nation of huge contrast. Rich and poor, urban and rural, educated and illiterate and therefore the extension of the government's internet censorship is not perhaps much of a surprise.
