The presentation critically examines some of the main influences acting upon organisational design and this includes decisions relating to authority, span of control, hierarchy, delegation, centralisation and decentralisation. Organisational structures are then considered and include: functional, product based, regional and matrix structures. After a consideration of the value of changing organisational design, the presentation concludes with an examination of how managing the human resource flow helps meet human resource objectives. Specifically there is an assessment of human resource planning, recruitment, training, redeployment and redundancy.
